Overview: Cyber Workforce Accelerator (CWA)™
A Much-Needed Cyber Workforce Solution
Designed to strengthen America’s cyber workforce.
The demand for skilled cybersecurity professionals is outpacing supply. With hundreds of thousands of open roles and too few qualified candidates, employers are struggling to hire — and to upskill the talent they already have.
To combat these challenges, the Cyber Workforce Accelerator (CWA)™ program is expanding Maryland’s cybersecurity talent pipeline by partnering with the state’s community colleges and providing jobseekers with direct access to hands-on training and meaningful employment opportunities.
The CWA program was established in 2024 by BCR Cyber and the Maryland Association of Community Colleges and provides all 16 of Maryland’s community colleges with access to BCR Cyber Series 3000 Cyber Ranges. The BCR Cyber Series 3000 Cyber Range provides hands-on, experiential learning by simulating real-time cyberattacks. It’s used to demonstrate core cybersecurity concepts and operations, and serves as a hands-on learning platform for both the CWA Workforce Development Program and CWA Academic Program.
Through the CWA, students benefit from two powerful components — the Academic Program and the Workforce Development (WFD) Program — both leveraging the BCR Cyber Series 3000 Cyber Range to deliver high-impact, hands-on training. While community colleges use the range to enhance classroom learning, the CWA Workforce Development (WFD) Program equips learners to step directly into in-demand cybersecurity roles.
